Track & Field: Alesha Lane Records Discus School Record, Aggies Tally Quintet of Bronze Medals to Close CUSA Championships

NM State finishes sixth overall, with 74 points.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – NM State took to Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Complex for the final day of competition from the 2025 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, using strong opening days to set the team up for an even stronger Sunday. Alesha Lane led the way with a school record in the discus, to go along with a bronze-medal finish – one of five on the day for the Aggies. Overall, NM State finished in sixth place, with the Liberty Flames claiming the team championship.

NM State’s 4×100 relay team of Marlee CavittJaylah McDonnellSierra BrewerJhana Downie opened the final day of competition on the track, combining to finish with a time of 45.08, taking third and adding six points to the team total. This time ranks seventh in school history.
 
Rachel O’Brien led the Aggies in the 1500m finals, posting a time of 4:23.40, earning five points for the Crimson & White. Nia Allison captured eighth-place with a new personal best time of 4:26.30 – retaining her spot of fourth-place in the NM State record book.
 
In her first of two finals appearances on Sunday, Breanna Moss recorded a new personal best in the 100m hurdles, taking fourth with a time of 13.98. This mark moves her into seventh in program history.
 
Sahara Tasker earned her first individual medal in the 400m run, posting a new personal best time of 53.70 to take bronze. This time retains Tasker’s spot of sixth in the NM State record book.
 
The lone entrant for the Aggies in the 100m finals, Sierra Brewer recorded a wind-legal personal best time of 11.56 to take fifth. This mark also ranks third fastest in school history.
 
Following a personal best on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s finals, Deming native Marlene Mosqueda paced the Aggies in the 800m run, setting another personal record to take seventh with a time of 2:10.60. This mark moves her into sixth all-time in NM State history. Albuquerque native Angela Korte tallied a time of 2:12.51, taking eighth to close her season on the track.  
 
Breanna Moss returned for the 400m hurdle finals, joined by teammate Mickaliliah Vassell. The senior duo took third and fourth respectively, with Moss tallying a new personal best time of 59.72 – the second-fastest time in Aggie history. Vassell earned a fourth-place result with a new season-best time of 1:00.75.
 
True freshman Sahara Tasker posted her second personal best of the day and third of the weekend in the 200m, crossing the line in fourth with a mark of 23.77. This mark improves the Allen, Texas, native into seventh all-time at NM State. Jhana Downie closed her historic career at NM State with a time of 23.84 to finish sixth.
 
Nia Allison took the top spot in the 5000m among the five Aggie entrants, posting a new personal best time of 17:15.52. Kayla O’Connell finished second among Crimson & White members and 14th overall with a personal best time of 17:21.97. Junior Khloi Bird posted a time of 17:39.31 in the event, while Jordan Torres crossed the line with a time of 17:58.17.
 
Field Headlines
 
Alesha Lane notched her third bronze medal of the 2025 season, taking third in the discus with a personal best mark of 53.12m (174-3″), following Saturday’s bronze in the shot put and another shot put bronze at the 2025 CUSA Indoor Track & Field Championships. This distance eclipses Lane’s previous school record mark of 51.87m, and now ranks 34th in the NCAA West Region.
 
Kamryn Cadle recorded her second points finish of the weekend, finishing with a distance of 43.78m (143-7″) to take seventh. Bailey Beene closed her NM State career with her first appearance in the championship format in the discus, posting a best mark of 37.56m.
 
Cameron Hodges returned for her second event of the weekend, posting a new personal best in the triple jump, recording a distance of 12.47m (40-11″) to take third – her third consecutive bronze medal in the event following the 2025 CUSA Indoor Championships and the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Championships in El Paso. This mark retains the Georgia natives’ spot of fifth place in the NM State record book.
