NM State records five first-place finishes at Greyhound Open in Portales.

AUSTIN, Texas / PORTALES, N.M. – Following a season-opening stint in Tucson, NM State returned to action for a pair of meets – the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas, and the Greyhound Open, hosted by Eastern New Mexico. Alesha Lane recorded a new school record in the discus, while also picking up a gold medal in the shot put.

NM State sent the 4×100 relay team of Marlee CavittJhana DownieSierra Brewer and Mickaliliah Vassell to Austin, Texas for the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. On Friday, the Aggies competed alongside some of the top programs in the country, posting a time of 46.10.

Track Headlines
 
A quartet of Aggies took to the track in the 100m, with Cameron Hodges taking the top finish for NM State with a time of 12.36 seconds – a new personal best. Julissa Daniels joined Hodges, tallying a personal best of 12.45, while Angelina Killings notched a season-best time of 12.84.
 
Sara McKee made her collegiate debut in the 100m and 200m, posting times of 12.73 (+2.8 m/s) and 26.45 (+4.2 m/s), respectively.
 
Tyler Goode was the lone Aggie on the men’s side to compete in Portales, competing in the 1500m for the second straight weekend following a showing in the same event at the Willie Williams Classic.
 
Field Headlines
 
NM State opened the day with the shot put, where Alesha Lane recorded the event’s top finish with a mark of 14.89m (48-10.25″) – a new personal best. Sophomore Kamryn Cadle finished second on the team and third overall, while Samonne Cauley tallied a new personal best.
 
For the first time this season, Bailey BeeneMariah Humphrey and Kylie Rubrecht competed together, with each finishing within the top four. Beene recorded a first-place finish, while Rubrecht recorded her first podium as a member of the Crimson & White (third place). Mariah Humphrey finished fourth overall in her first meet of the 2025 campaign.
 
The Aggies saw a successful day in the long jump, where Cameron Hodges took gold with a best distance of 5.48m (+2.2 m/s). Angeline Killings posted a mark of 4.99m (+2.6 m/s), while freshman Julissa Daniels tallied a final result of 4.71m (+3.2 m/s).
 
Alesha Lane dominated the field in the discus toss, posting a final mark of 51.87m (170-2″) – nearly 10 feet further than Eastern New Mexico’s Kennedy Ulmer who took silver. This mark not only represents a personal best, but is the new school record, breaking a mark set by former teammate Makiya Moore in 2022.
 
Kamryn Cadle finished fourth in the discus with a new personal best of 42.58m, while Bailey Beene took home a final mark of 42.18m (a new personal best) to finish eighth overall.
 
In the high jump, Aileen Alvarado tallied her first gold medal finish, recording a new personal best with a mark of 1.65m. With this result, Alvarado moves into 10th in program history.
 
Closing the field events with the hammer, Camila Garcia Carrera took the top finish for the Crimson & White, posting a season-best mark of 45.82m (150-4″).
