The Murray State Racers bowed out of the 2025 NCAA College World Series Monday in a no-hit, 3-0 defeat to the Arkansas Razorbacks at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Pitching for the Racers was senior Isaac Silva, Oñate High School Class of 2021. Taking the “L” in Omaha is a hard pill to swallow, but to end up on the short end of the stick after one of the best performances of the year makes it all the more difficult. If it is any consolation, we applaud Silva’s performance.

Through six innings, Isaac Silva allowed a single run against a slugging Razorback team. Those six innings included 7 strikeouts and only two walks. For comparison, Silva’s season high for strikeouts came in April against Valpariaso… with 8… over the course of 9 innings.
Silva’s spectacular performance, and the Racers (44-17) amazing run in winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, the Oxford Regional and the Durham Super Regional fell under the shadow of the no-hitter by Arkansas sophomore Gage Wood. The first no-hitter against the Racers since 2002 at Auburn. Silva’s performance, while rivaling his best of the season, would remain a footnote to the historical showing by Arkansas slinger, Gage Wood.
Gage, who was a high school teammate of Murray State’s freshman short stop Connor Cunningham, beat the Racers from the rubber, allowing only one base runner in the eighth inning when Dom Decker was hit by a pitch. As a team, the Racers set all-time season records for At bats, Runs, Hits, doubles, triples, RBI, games and wins; however, they could not find a solution to Gage Wood.
