Apartment Fire Causes Minor Injuries in Las Cruces

A fire at an apartment complex caused relatively minor injuries to two people and forced the rescue of two dogs from neighboring apartments.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to the report of a fire at an apartment at 1955 S. Telshor Blvd. Crews arrived to find fire on the second-floor landing of an apartment.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and firefighters located two victims on the apartment patio. Firefighters removed the two victims, a man and woman, and provided them with care at the scene.

The couple’s injuries were relatively minor, and they did not require transportation for any additional care.

While extinguishing the fire, firefighters located two dogs in neighboring apartments that were suffering from smoke inhalation. The dogs were provided oxygen before being released to their owners.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
