The Las Cruces Public Libraries’ Banned Books Club invites you to its monthly discussion from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library. The Library is located at 200 E. Picacho Avenue and is on RoadRUNNER Transit route 1.

The May Banned Book Club Selection is Bless Me, Ultima. It is a coming-of-age novel by Rudolfo Anaya centering on Antonio Márez y Luna and his mentorship under his curandera and protector, Ultima. It has become the most widely read and critically acclaimed novel in the New Mexican literature canon since its first publication in 1972. It is one of the American Library Association’s Top Ten Most Frequently Challenged Books” in the years 2013 and 2008. 

Print copies of the book Bless Me, Ultima are available for check out.  You can access e-reader and audiobook copies through the libraries’ Libby and Hoopla apps.
