Join Fort Selden’s Ranger Mike for a discussion and demonstration of basic outdoor survival techniques inspired by the book Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen who was from Tularosa, NM.
- When: Saturday, May 17, 2025, 10 – 11 a.m.
- Where: Fort Selden Historic Site,1280 Fort Selden Rd, Radium Springs, NM 88054
- Why: Ranger Mike will also have a discussion connecting these survival skills to the challenges soldiers at Fort Selden endured while out on patrol. Feel free to bring your own copy of Hatchet to follow along, as Ranger Mike will be reading various passages from the book and providing his personal experience with outdoor survival.
