Las Cruces firefighters had a busy 13-hour period on Wednesday as they battled three separate structure fires, one of which injured a man.

About 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, firefighters responded to the report of a commercial structure fire at the Discount Tire store at 420 S. Telshor Blvd. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke inside the building.
Crews quickly located the source of the fire in a second-floor storage area. The fire was contained to that area and extinguished.
No injuries were reported, and the business was able to remain open for the remainder of the day. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to the report of a shed on fire at the intersection of Lohman Avenue and Solano Drive. A bystander told firefighters that a man was possibly inside the shed. Firefighters located a man and removed him. Crews provided immediate patient care while the fire was suppressed.

About 8:20 p.m. firefighters were called to a residential structure fire on the 400 block of east Court Avenue. Crews attacked the fire from multiple angles and had it under control within 10 minutes of arrival.
The residence was vacant at the time and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and damage estimates are still under investigation.
