Las Cruces police have arrested the man suspected of Wednesday’s fatal shooting of 36-year-old Justin Griffin on the 2100 block of Lynch Drive.

Saul Camarena, 41, was arrested about 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, after police determined his whereabouts and located him at a home on the city’s East Mesa.

Las Cruces police have arrested the man suspected of Wednesday’s fatal shooting of 36-year-old Justin Griffin on the 2100 block of Lynch Drive.

Saul Camarena, 41, was arrested about 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, after police determined his whereabouts and located him at a home on the city’s East Mesa. Camarena is charged with an open count of murder and will be incarcerated in the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

About 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to the report of a gunshot victim on the 2100 block of Lynch Drive. First responders arrived to find Griffin unresponsive on the roadway.

Griffin suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Police believe Camarena and Griffin were involved in some type of altercation that led to the shooting.
