DASO and Fire Rescue crews responded to the crash involving a semi-truck just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of NM 28 and Carver Road.

All Clear: The hazardous materials situation near Hwy 28 & Carver Rd. has been resolved.

Water in the area is safe to drink and use. There is no longer any risk, and alerts are no longer in effect.

UPDATE on Hazmat Spill – Carver Rd. & Hwy 28

If you live or travel within the impacted zone, you should have received a text alert notifying you to NOT drink or irrigate with water in the area until further notice as a precaution.

If you did not receive an alert, you are outside the affected area and there is no cause for concern. That said, you may choose to use bottled water if you prefer to take extra precautions.

NM 28 remains closed in both directions at mile marker 26, San Pablo following the two-vehicle collision that resulted in the hazardous material spill. Doña Ana Fire Rescue and State Police remain on scene. Please stay away from the area to allow crews to work safely and diligently.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office blocked off a portion of NM 28 following a two-vehicle collision. NM 28 is closed in both directions at mile marker 26, San Pablo.

DASO and Fire Rescue crews responded to the crash involving a semi-truck just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of NM 28 and Carver Road. Two people sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The semi-truck contained sulfuric acid, deemed hazardous material, that spilled onto the roadway following the rollover crash. As a result, the roadway was closed for traffic and power was shut off in the area.

Officials are asking people to stay away from the area. Local businesses and schools have been notified of the incident and are requested to shelter in place.
