Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire on Second Street early Friday morning.

About 4:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire on the 500 block of Second Street. Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy fire coming a single-story house. Five people were helped away from the house, including two men, two women, and a child.

The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes. The structure sustained heave fire and smoke damage.
Two residents were burned and received treatment at a local hospital. No firefighters were injured in the incident. The American Red Cross was called to help find temporary accommodations for the residents.
