Las Cruces Police hosted a news conference Tuesday morning to provide an update on the mass shooting that occurred March 21st at Young Park.

The news conference began a little after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Following an introduction by Information Officer Danny Trujillo, Las Cruces Mayor Enriquez shared words of support for victims and our broader community. He also commended law enforcement personnel for their professionalism in their response to the Young Park tragedy.

After clarifying remarks made in his initial news conference, Chief Jeremy Story provided an overview of what has been learned so far in the investigation; however, it was emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. What was presented to the public was a chronological account, including samplings from 9-1-1 calls, videos provided by bystanders as well as body camera footage. The presentation provided an arc showing what is believed to have transpired from beginning to end; however, many details are still under investigation.
