Even with its eighth consecutive loss, NM State secured a spot in the 2025 CUSA Baseball Championship as it benefited from a loss by Middle Tennessee, which fell 11-6 at Kennesaw State on Friday.

The Aggies will compete in the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted in Murfreesboro, Tenn., by MTSU.

This weekend will also serve as the Aggies’ final regular season stretch of games as they enter the series in need of one win or one loss from Middle Tennessee in order to secure a spot in the upcoming CUSA Tournament in Lynchburg, Va., on May 15-17.

On Tuesday, the Aggies recorded a 288 (E) once again to bring their team total to 576 (E) for the week, a mark that is good for third place among the 13-team field.

Despite the loss, NM State will still secure a spot in the upcoming CUSA tournament with either one win over LA Tech this weekend or one loss from Middle Tennessee which will travel to Kennesaw State to close its regular season.

The tournament will comprise of a three-day, 54-hole stroke play competition that is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. MT on Monday, May 12.

The Aggies got off to a promising start after WKU took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a solo homer by Joe Siervo.

With four all-conference selections, this marks the most all-conference selections during Head Coach Mike Dirks’ 14-year stint as the leader of the Aggie program.

Despite grabbing an early 2–0 lead, NM State couldn’t keep pace with the Hilltoppers’ potent offensive attack.

The series opener against the Hilltoppers is scheduled to start on Friday at 6 p.m., with Saturday’s contest beginning on 4 p.m. and Sunday’s finale beginning at 11 a.m.

Bunch finished with a 54-hole score of 220 (+4) after carding a 71 (-1) in the third and final round on Wednesday afternoon.

The 2025 campaign came to a screeching halt for NM State Softball on Wednesday.

With the match tied 3-3, all eyes turned to court two, where Tobias Wallin was locked in a marathon three-setter.

The CUSA Championship begins on Wednesday, with the fifth-seeded Aggies taking on No. 4 LA Tech in the opening round of the four-day, double-elimination tournament.

On the week, Bunch has now recorded eight total birdies which is tied for sixth-most among the 66-woman field.

Aggies couldn’t hold off the Red Raiders’ offensive surge, falling 13–6 in a game at Rip Griffin Park that began 40 minutes late due to inclement weather.

In the first round, Bunch posted three birdies, including two across her final six holes to come into the clubhouse on a high note.

Tuesday will serve as the Aggies’ final midweek bout of the season and will be their fourth road game in a row before they return to Las Cruces to host a three-game series against Conference USA foe Western Kentucky.

 Jordan Torres and Murrie Dodge tallied top-three finishes for the Aggies, with a quartet of personal bests scattered throughout an incredibly competitive field of power conference programs and nationally ranked student-athletes.

The series and regular-season finale lasted 13 innings, with Desirae Spearman driving in the winning run on an RBI double.

Ultimately, NM State came up short in the two games it played on the road at Kennesaw State, falling to 22-25 on the season and 10-10 in Conference USA play.
