The New Mexico State Women’s Basketball team comes back from Christmas break to face off with No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma trails the series in Norman as NMSU won the only contest played at Lloyd Noble Center in 1988. OU did win the most recent meeting in 1994. 

Returning to action for one last game before 2025, NM State (7-6) played host to the University of the Southwest Mustangs (7-7) on Saturday afternoon from the Pan American Center.

Brand new to Division 1 Athletics, Tarleton has only faced the Aggies four times in the history of their program.

Monday’s matchup will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs and their first clash since the Aggies transitioned from the Western Athletic Conference to Conference USA in the 2023-24 season.

In Head Coach Tony Sanchez’s first year at the helm of the program, 16 Aggies garnered 21 awards presented by College Football Network.

Despite carrying momentum from their streak-breaking win, the Aggies ultimately fell to the Longhorns, 91-67 on Austin. 

 Molly Kaiser closed this past week out with an impressive résumé for the Crimson & White.

On Sunday, Kaiser finished perfect from the free throw line (9-for-9) and knocked down 10 field goal attempts to ultimately help the Aggies extend the game out of New Mexico’s reach.

In total, the Aggies garnered 11 selections, including six members which were named Second Team All-CUSA.

UTEP produced a league-high five selections on the team, while Jax State, Kennesaw State and NM State had four apiece.

Both players have improved the Aggies overall record this week to help move NM State into third in the current conference standings.

The Lobos (7-3) came back from 15 down in the second half to force overtime, but the Aggies (4-5) used a 10-0 run in the extra period to secure the win.
