Following a successful conference season that saw the Aggies record a 5-2-2 mark to finish third in the standings, Conference USA announced their postseason awards on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The Aggies and Flames are set to face off in a rematch of last’s season title game, though this time in the semifinals. First kick is slated for 2 p.m. MT.

This weekend will see four local teams (Hatch Valley, Mesilla Valley Christian, Mayfield and Las Cruces) defend their home turf in early rounds of the NMAA State Championships this weekend.

The Aggies will look to return to the win column following a road loss at FIU last Tuesday.

Aggie kicker Abraham Montaño has been on a different level this season and following yet another standout performance last Tuesday, he was recognized as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week.

Closing the season at 10-5-3 overall, the Aggies notched their third straight season with 10 or more victories under Head Coach Rob Baarts.

While the Lady Bulldawgs entered the championship tournament with a better win-loss record, the only defeats suffered by Eldorado were at the hands of top-seeded 5A favorite La Cueva, and MaxPreps top-ranked team, undefeated 4A bellwether Hope Christian.

NM State Women’s Basketball opened up the 2024-25 campaign with a defensive masterclass, shutting down UC Irvine in its own arena.

In total, 40 of the Aggies’ 93 points came inside the paint while they limited New Mexico Highlands to just six points in the painted area.

Before transferring to Vanderbilt, he was the 2023 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year at New Mexico State.

This season, the Aggies welcome back four returners from last year’s roster: Christian Cook, Robert Carpenter, Jaden Harris, and Christopher Biekeu.

In strikingly similar fashion to Friday’s affair, Western Kentucky notched a competitive sweep over NM State.

Hosted by Jacksonville State at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala., NM State recorded a fourth-place finish in the women’s 6K, while taking sixth in the men’s 8K.

NM State still sits tied for third in the Conference USA standings alongside Sam Houston (8-5), as the Bearkats fell in four sets to Liberty.

Somehow some way, the Aggies continue to find late-game magic.

After beginning the season back on August 9 in an exhibition against Cochise College, NM State is back home for one final contest in the regular season.

Santa Teresa Girls lose in heartbreaking shootout, while Centennial Girls lose in double OT. Organ Mountain Girls travel to Hobbs to end season.

The Aggies used strong performances from returners Robert Carpenter (22 points), Christian Cook (14 points) and Jaden Harris (10 points) to close the night with a 77-56 victory.  

Top ranked Centennial garnered the top seed in Class 5A, earning a first-round BYE.

NM State will make its first-ever trip to Miami for a bout with Conference USA foe FIU.

After a 233-day hiatus, NM State returns to the court to launch its 2024-25 campaign, hosting in-state rival Western New Mexico in an exhibition game on Monday evening.
