The Centennial Hawks finished their 2024 season as king of the hill, hoisting the blue State Championship trophy Saturday afternoon. Traversing the regular season with no ties and a single loss, the Hawks demonstrated their commitment, endurance and determination by traveling north to take on an Albuquerque darling on the chilly pitch at the UNM Soccer Field.

It took an overtime period, but the Hawks seized the opportunity to demonstrate how rankings cannot replace play on the field. The Centennial Hawks are the 2024 NMAA Boys Soccer State Champions.

The Lady Bulldawgs of Las Cruces High School fell just short of the blue trophy, falling convincingly to a La Cueva Bears team that earned the championship moniker for the 17th time in program history–extending a New Mexico high school record. Over the course of 90 minutes, the La Cueva backfield shut out the Bulldawgs, denying a single shot on goal for the entire match.

State Runner-Up is still something to be proud of; Las Cruces Digest wishes to congratulate the Lady Bulldawgs on a well-played season. Despite a season ending loss in the championship, the Bulldawgs remain undefeated in district play, and can carry that accomplishment with them as eyes begin to turn toward 2025.
