The City is looking to consider options to set Las Cruces up for future success and may recommend doing so with a bump in the local portion of the GRT. This increase would equate to about $.56 per $100 spent on certain goods and services. Currently there is no GRT collected on groceries or medicine in New Mexico.

The City could generate up to $20 million dollars a year:

  • By ordinance about $9 million/year – (0.2375%)
  • Referendum an additional $11 million/year – (0.3250%)
