The City of Las Cruces will soon begin a project to inventory the condition of all roads maintained by the City.

The data collection will begin Monday, March 11, 2024, and will continue through May 2024. There will be no associated street closures or impacts to any RoadRUNNER Transit bus stop locations. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.

The City has retained the services of Roadway Asset Services(RAS), a limited liability company. RAS is a U.S. firm that provides professional asset management and mobile data collection services to local and state governments.

RAS operates a fleet of sophisticated data collection vehicles equipped with an array of precision instrumentation and data collection equipment that helps state and local transportation agencies inventory and manage transportation infrastructure, facilities, and assets.

Specifically, RAS vans are equipped with digital cameras that collect imagery on all pavement and above-ground transportation related assets within rights-of-way. This imagery is used to assess pavement conditions and update the City’s pavement management program.

To collect all relevant data, the vehicles will be traveling all roads within Las Cruces to ensure the highest quality of data and imagery. The vehicles will only collect data during daylight hours.
