- A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices) will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- City Hall will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- East Mesa Recreation Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Foothills Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Amador Transfer Station, 2885 W. Amador Ave., will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Corralitos Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Doña Ana County solid waste collection sites will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Las Cruces Museum System, including Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science, and the Railroad Museum, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Las Cruces Public Libraries, including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, branch libraries at Munson Center and Sage Café, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Las Cruces Natatorium will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Rio Grande Theatre will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Roadrunner Transit services will not operate Thanksgiving Day.
- All Senior Programs facilities and services will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
- Visit Las Cruces will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.
Operating, or open, with hours, includes:
- Curbside recycling collection that was supposed to be collected on Thursday, November 28 (Thanksgiving Day), will instead be collected Friday, November 29. Friday’s curbside recycling collection will occur as scheduled.
- The Foothills Landfill, 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 30.
- RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride will operate on a Saturday level of service from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, November 29.
- City Solid Waste Residential Collection and Grappler Collections through Wednesday, November 27 will occur as normal; No residential solid waste collection will occur Thanksgiving Day; both Thursday and Friday residential solid waste collections will occur Friday, November 29. Collection routes not completed Friday, November 29 will be completed Saturday, November 30 beginning at 6 a.m.
- City Solid Waste Commercial Collection Revised Schedule: Monday’s collections will be collected on Sunday November 24 beginning at 6 a.m.; Tuesday’s collections will be collected on Monday November 25 beginning at 6 am.; Wednesday’s collections will be collected on Tuesday November 26 beginning at 6 am.; Thursday’s collections will be collected on Wednesday November 27 beginning at 6 a.m.; There will be no collections on Thursday November 28 (Thanksgiving Day); Friday and Saturday collections will run as normal
- Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be open from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, November 29.
- Las Cruces Natatorium will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, November 29.
County will observe Thanksgiving
Most Doña Ana County administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Thanksgiving has been observed in the U.S. on the fourth Thursday in November, since 1941.
Emergency services, including law enforcement and fire will not be affected by the closure. County offices will resume regular hours of operation at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.
