DALLAS – On Monday, Conference USA unveiled its Weekly Awards, recognizing NM State’s own Devin Elam. The third-year Aggie picked up a Co-Player of the Week award, alongside Liberty’s Rachel Roupe. The Aggie star picked up the honor for the second time in her career, picking up the same distinction in April of 2024. Over the weekend, she led the Crimson & White offense to a series win over a 20-win Jax State squad, taking the final two bouts against a team that had previously won seven straight contests.

This week, Devin Elam returned from an eight-game injury absence and made an immediate impact. The 2024 All-CUSA First Team selection posted a .600 batting average as she racked up six hits in three outings, leading the offense to another series win over Jax State. With a walk, two doubles and a home run, Elam notched 11 total bases and a 1.736 OPS. The junior’s home run on Sunday brought in three of her team’s five runs as NM State took the rubber match against the Gamecocks. For the week, Elam tallied seven RBIs to pace an NM State offense that scored 26 runs in a 3-1 week that began with a rivalry win over New Mexico. The outfielder also tallied five putouts and an assist as she maintained her 1.000 fielding percentage in 2025.

Last year, CUSA recognized Elam on April 15, after a strong showing in a sweep of FIU. The sophomore’s week, which also included a doubleheader against Arizona, ended with 11 hits, three doubles, a home run and nine RBIs on a .611 batting average. The honor highlighted her 2024 regular season that earned Elam an All-CUSA First Team selection.

NUMBERS OF NOTE

  • Elam posted seven RBIs over the weekend, leading her team in the series.
  • The junior drove in four runs on Saturday, doing so on a season-high three hits.
  • On Sunday, Elam picked up another three RBIs on a third-inning home run.
  • The blast was Elam’s second of the season and the 10th of her career.
  • The third-year Aggie hit .600 on the week, notching six hits in 10 at-bats and boosting her season batting average to .350.
  • Despite missing eight games this year with injury, Elam (21) is one of six Aggies with 20 or more hits in 2025.
  • The outfielder’s 1.736 weekly OPS vaulted her season total to 1.002, making her one of five Aggies with a mark of 1.000 or higher.
  • Her seven doubles are tied with Desirae Spearman for second-most on the team and fifth in the conference.
  • With 14 RBIs this campaign, Elam now ranks tied for fourth on the team and is on pace for 29.33 in the regular season.
  • The California native becomes the first Aggie to win multiple CUSA Player of the Week honors. Previously, Lauren Garcia (2025) and Jillian Taylor (2024) picked up the same distinction.
  • The only other Aggie to win multiple weekly CUSA honors is Desirae Spearman, who was recognized with five Freshman and a Pitcher of the Week distinction in 2024.

This weekend, Elam will lead the Aggies into a road series in Miami. FIU, with 22 wins on the campaign, already has racked up more victories than in 2024. The Panthers are 5-1 in CUSA play, most recently sweeping Kennesaw State on the road. The three-game tilt is set to begin on Friday, March 21, at 4:00 p.m. MT (6:00 p.m. ET), and continue through Sunday. All the action will be available to follow via nmstatestats.com.
