The Aggies were once again led by Dijana Mazumdar as they defeated WAC opponent Utah Tech 173-78 in a Thursday dual meet. The afternoon began with Mazumdar anchoring the 200 medley relay, notching a 23.65 split. The Sydney, Australia, native was the only swimmer to dip below 24 seconds in the 50 free, posting a time of 23.91. In the very next event, she reached the wall first in the 100 free, tallying a 52.65 mark. With an individual time of 52.44 on NM State’s second leg of the 400 free relay, Mazumdar concluded a Thursday showing that included four victories in as many races, accounting for 40 points.

The Aussie continued an impressive true freshman campaign that has already included a pair of the WAC’s top-five times in the 50 free and 100 free. Friday’s distinction was Dijana’s second award from the WAC in her young career, adding on to when she earned the same honor on Nov. 13 earlier this season.

QUOTABLE | HEAD COACH RICK PRATT
“We had several good wins yesterday and the team got things done for that road win. Dijana has been tough and reliable as one of our top sprinters and it is great to have her get some recognition. Naomi [Slee], Katie [Rink], Emily [Dobbins], Faye [McDonagh] and Ellen [Osthelder] also had some strong showings yesterday. I’m looking forward to continuing our success in the new year.”

Twenty-two days from now, Mazumdar will lead NM State into action on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. Pratt will lead the Aggies into a home clash with WAC foe Grand Canyon. The action against the Antelopes is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. MT from the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.
