It pains us to post this on Earth Day, but we asked and even posted warning signs at all picnic areas, but to no avail, we found numerous remnants of cascarones (aka confetti eggs) that had been opened on the monument this past Easter weekend.

The hazards of confetti eggs on the environment include:
Pollution: Storm drains lead to untreated creeks and oceans, polluting natural habitats.
Mistaken for food: Confetti can be mistaken for food by birds, fish, and other wildlife.
Non-biodegradable materials: Shiny metallic confetti, sequins, and glitter are made of plastic, which is not biodegradable.
Littering: Throwing confetti and leaving it behind is littering.
