LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Less than two weeks after the conclusion of the 2024 season, Mike Jordan has made a key addition for the future. NM State Volleyball landed a local star from El Paso with the signing of Jaelynn Kohli of Eastlake High School. Kohli, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter, will graduate early and join NM State in the spring of 2025 after an outstanding individual showing in her senior campaign.

Kohli was the first option for the Eastlake offense all fall, leading her team to the UIL 6A Division I Texas Regional Semifinals for the first time. The fourth-year star paced the Falcons in kills (564), kills per set (5.08), hitting percentage (.365), blocks (53), solo blocks (14) and blocks per set (0.47). Kohli drove her squad to the school’s first-ever two-win postseason in history, advancing to the Regional Semifinals before falling to Allen.

With a departing class that includes six graduating seniors, NM State replenished with a talented local product. The last Aggie to come out of Eastlake was Analyssa Acosta, who played under Mike Jordan from 2016-19 and advanced to two NCAA Tournaments.

Head Coach Mike Jordan, on the addition of Jaelynn Kohli to the program: “Jaelynn has length, arm speed and is a versatile attacker. She’s competitive and a great person. She will graduate early, so we’re looking forward to having her on campus practicing with us this spring.”

Jaelynn Kohli, on signing with NM State Volleyball: “I really like the program and the players on the team and I think the future is bright for the program. Head Coach Mike Jordan is a great coach and he’s tough. I like that and I need that. He was consistent in keeping in contact with me throughout this process and he was beneficial.” (via Felix Chavez, El Paso Times)
