Sophomore earns first career weekly honor after stellar weekend at New Mexico.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference announced its weekly Swimming and Diving awards on Wednesday, Feb. 12. NM State’s Emily Dobbins was named Swimmer of the Week by the league, highlighting an impressive sophomore campaign. The second-year Aggie earned the first such award of her career after winning three races four showings.

- 1st in 200 medley relay (1:43.41) – posted 24.24 split in third leg
- 1st in 100 back (55.96)
- 1st in 200 back (2:04.33)
- 2nd in 200 free relay (1:34.50) – posted 22.58 in second leg
Dobbins put up a great individual day in the pool against in-state rival New Mexico on Saturday. The Australian tallied three wins as her squad dominated the Lobos to the tune of 197-102.
She began the day with a 24.24 split as part of a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:43.41). Later in the day, her 100 back cleared the competition, coming in at 55.96, almost 1.50 seconds ahead of second place.
In the 200 back, Dobbins picked up yet another victory by posting a time of 2:04.33 as the Aggies went 1-2-3.
The sophomore wrapped up the day with a 22.58 split in the second leg of the 200 free relay, leading not only New Mexico State’s A Group, but the entire pool.
The second-year Aggie headlined her unit as it clinched its eighth win of the season and the program’s best winning percentage in history (8-1).

Fourteen days from now, Dobbins will lead NM State into action on Feb. 26 for the WAC Championships in Houston, Texas. The action is slated across four days, beginning on Wednesday in the NWRC Natatorium on the campus of the University of Houston.
