The City’s Parks and Recreation Department will offer open gym recreation for youth, ages 12 to 17, at Meerscheidt Recreation Center beginning June 2, 2025.

The open gym recreation will be available from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 2 through July 19, at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.
Open gym recreation is self-guided and includes access to basketball, volleyball, billiards, foosball, cornhole and ping pong. Teens must check in at the front desk and present a Parks and Recreation Activity ID card upon arrival.
Teenagers ages 14 to 17 can also use the recreation center’s cardio equipment, such as treadmills and ellipticals, free of charge with documented parent permission. Teens ages 15 to 17 can access the weight room with documented parent or legal guardian permission and under the direct supervision of an adult 18 years of age or older.
To obtain a Parks and Recreation Activity ID card, a parent or guardian and the youth must appear in person at Meerscheidt Recreation Center to fill out an annual waiver, provide proof of age and grade, and have the user’s photo taken. ID cards can be obtained from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
