“Engaging Masters” Exhibit Opens at Las Cruces Museum of Art Friday, February 7

At times humorous, other times contemplative, this engaging exhibit features over thirty contemporary artists who reinterpret the artwork or artistic styles of a wide range of master artists.

In three weeks, our broader community is invited to join Las Cruces Museums for a new exhibition at the Museum of Art, “Engaging Masters: Parody Art from the Collection of David Lyman and Chris Alexander,” featuring over 80 works of art by 34 artists that parody historic masterworks and contemporary art. The exhibit is on display from Friday, February 7 through Saturday, May 3.

At times humorous, other times contemplative, this engaging exhibit features over thirty contemporary artists who reinterpret the artwork or artistic styles of a wide range of master artists including Johannes Vermeer, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Keith Harring. Through paintings, prints, and sculptures the artists convey their own unique expressions of well-known artworks.

The opening reception on Friday, February 7, where art collector David Lyman will conduct a gallery walk-through at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
