On May 6, 2025, an 18-year-old fled a US Border Patrol checkpoint in Las Cruces, NM, after agents referred him to secondary inspection due to a strong odor of marijuana. He ignored commands and sped off—but agents caught him shortly after.

Inside his vehicle, agents found:
- 9mm handgun
- .40 caliber ammo
- Marijuana cigars
- Drug paraphernalia with cocaine residue
He now faces charges for high-speed flight under 18 USC 758.

Disregarding a federal checkpoint and endangering the public won’t be tolerated. Offenders will be held accountable.
