Participants include the Las Cruces Police Department, the Las Cruces Fire Department, Dona Ana County Health and Human Services, the New Mexico Department of Health, Unified Prevention Coalition, the Office of Border Health CHW Program, New Mexico National Guard Joint Counterdrug Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Peak Behavior Health, ALT Recover Group, Ideal Options, Heart and Soul of New Mexico, Zia Recovery Center, Families and Youth Innovations Plus, FYI La Vida Project and La Clinica de Familia.

Participating organizations will be available to help answer questions and provide information on substance use disorders, available resources and treatment services for those wishing to learn more about the dangers of the synthetic opioid. They can assist with referrals, intakes, and provide information about substance abuse and addiction services that are available in Las Cruces.

National Fentanyl Awareness Day began in 2022 to recognize the growing risks that fentanyl poses in our communities. Nationwide, it’s estimated that 150 people die every day from overdoses related to synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
