The Las Cruces Fire Department is accepting registrations for soon-to-be 8th graders who are interested in participating in Fire Camp to be held June 17-28.

Fire Camp, now in its second year, is a free and exciting two-week summer camp that helps build confidence and develops leadership skills in youth ages 13-14 years or entering 8th grade. The camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays June 17-28, 2024.
Parents or guardians who wish to register a youth, ages 13-14 or entering 8th grade, can do so from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5-7 at Fire Station 1, 201 E. Picacho Ave. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis until the remaining eight slots have been filled. A total of 15 campers will be accepted.
Parents or guardians should bring proof of age for the camper and relevant information such as known allergies and medical conditions of their registrant.
LCFD’s Fire Camp offers a wide range of activities including physical training, EMS training, fireground operations, a confidence course and leadership mentoring. Campers also engage in hands-on training with Las Cruces firefighters.
Campers will meet at 8:30 a.m. each weekday, June 17-28, at Fire Station 1. The camp will be held at Fire Station 1, at LCFD’s training and logistics facility and at the department’s practical skills building on Zia Boulevard. Safe transportation to and from each facility will be provided by the Las Cruces Fire Department.
Fire Camp participants will be served breakfast and lunch each day. Water and snacks will be provided. Campers will also receive a free T-shirt.
