A neighbor alerted homeowners to a residential structure fire that damaged their house and caused relatively minor injuries to one of the occupants on Sunday.

About 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to report of a fire on the 1200 block of Bellamah Circle. Firefighters arrived to find fire burning part of the home and a detached shed.
Firefighters deployed multiple lines and searched the home for occupants. The fire was brought under control within 12 minutes and the search determined that all occupants had exited the home.
Fire crews learned that the homeowners were unaware of the fire and were alerted by their neighbor who encouraged them to exit the home. One of the occupants of the home sustained relatively minor injuries that were assessed by fire personnel. The occupant did not require hospitalization.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
