Doña Ana Fire Rescue crews responded to a residential structure fire Saturday, June 7 in Chamberino, NM.

DAFR crews were dispatched to the fire located on the 300 block of San Benito Street just after 2 p.m. and arrived within six minutes. Upon arrival crews encountered an active fire in a single-wide mobile home. Crews confirmed all occupants were out of the structure, but were informed several animals were left inside.
Despite attempts to rescue, 15 animals were found deceased. No other occupants were inside the home and no other injuries were reported.
DAFR crews extinguished the fire and remained on scene to ensure all hotspots were put out.
Later that evening, DAFR was dispatched to the same address for reports of smoke. Crews responded and confirmed the smoke was residual steam and there were no remaining hotspots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Doña Ana Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire Wednesday (June 12) afternoon at the 4000 block of West Picacho Avenue in Fairacres.
An RV was found fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. DAFR crews, with the help of Mesilla Fire Department, quickly extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported.
