Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire Saturday at the South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station.

About 9:20 p.m. Saturday, April 27, Las Cruces firefighters were called to the report of a fire at the Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 2865 W. Amador Ave.

Crews arrived to find a large fire within the facility and upgraded the alarm to a structure response. A total of 15 firefighters arrived and deployed three attack lines.

The fire was brought under control within 14 minutes. The transfer station appeared to be unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown and damage estimates are not available.
