The Pro Aggies continued the tear in the show with Joey Ortiz named NL Rookie of the Month for May. As the MLB season heads toward the All-Star Break Ortiz’s name is on the All-Star Ballot.
Kyle Bradish- Orioles
Bradish has started eight games for the Orioles posting an astounding 2.75 ERA with two wins on the season. Bradish has thrown a total of 39.1 innings and has struck out 53 batters.
In his last outing on June 14 against the Phillies Bradish threw for 5.0 innings giving up two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk. The next day, June 15, Bradish was placed on the 15-day IL due to a right UCL sprain, the same injury he suffered on March 28.
Nick Gonzales- Pirates
Gonzales has now played 32 games for Pittsburgh, 29 games at second, three at shortstop, and two at third base. With 122 at-bats, Gonzales has racked up 38 hits with five home runs.
Gonzales has a .311 batting average, a .341 OBP and a .849 OPS. In all three of those stat categories, Gonzales is above the league average. With 10 hits in the past seven games, Gonzales has a seven-game hitting streak, his longest of the season.
Joey Ortiz- Brewers
Ortiz has 181 at-bats on the season recording 51 hits with 27 runs and 27 RBIs. Ortiz has hit seven home runs on the season. He is batting .282 with an OBP of .383 and an OPS of .858; all above the league average.
In the last 30 games, Ortiz has recorded 31 hits, three home runs and 17 RBIs. Ortiz has played 57 games at third base, six at second and three at shortstop for the Brewers.
The NL Rookie of the Month for May, Ortiz, is the lone Aggie on the National League All-Star Ballot. You can vote for him at the link below:
