The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Young Park pond, 1905 Nevada Ave. All ages and genders are invited to participate.

Young anglers who do not have fishing tackle will be provided with the necessary equipment and instructions to cast a line.

The Fish with a Cop event will include skill stations, food, beverages and live music. Prizes will be awarded in various categories.

Participants are encouraged to be at Young Park pond by 8 a.m. Saturday to be paired with a law enforcement officer or professional angler. Parents or guardians are encouraged to accompany their children during the event.

Fish with a Cop is sponsored by New Mexico State Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State University Police, the Mesilla Marshal’s Office, New Mexico Desert Dogs, Matteo’s Authentic Mexican Food, Las Cruces First and Walmart.
