This past week clarified the battle for the top of the District 3, Class 5A baseball leader. Entering the week, three area teams were within one game of the top spot. The Organ Mountain High School Knights saw to it that only one contender remained after sweeping 3 from the Las Cruces High School Bulldawgs.

The Bulldawgs were able to put up runs against what had been a particularly stingy Knights defense, but it was not enough. This week, the Knights will take to the field against the last remaining contender, the Centennial Hawks.
