The Las Cruces Fire Department will graduate 20 cadets from its 37th Fire Academy on Friday.

The graduation ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, in the Auditorium at the Dona Ana Community College East Mesa Campus.

Fire cadets expected to graduate Friday include Nate Armendariz, Randy J. Ceballos, Andrew Isaac Corral, Ariel Edkin, Carlos Manuel Escamilla, Jared Lee Evaro, Joseph Guerrero, Erin Lara, Isaac Marin, Bryson P. Medeiros, Steven Ray Montoya, George Anthony Nino, Gerson Oronia, Josiah Gilbert Paez, Ryan T. Peraita, Diego E. Renteria, Miguel Rubalcaba, Derik J. Sanchez, Augustine Wang and Troy Weir.

The Fire Academy provides 640 hours of field training and classroom instruction over a span of 16 weeks. During the academy, cadets received training in firefighting techniques, hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, technical rescue and fire inspection.

Beginning June 30, four new graduates who already have their EMT-Basic License will be assigned to one of eight fire stations for emergency response. The remaining cadets will complete another eight weeks of EMT-Basic training before they are licensed.
