Las Cruces police will conduct at least one sobriety checkpoint within city limits during the month of April.
Sobriety checkpoints are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.

Las Cruces Police encourage those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
Officers will also on the lookout for other traffic safety violations such as drivers using cell phones, and those who fail to properly utilize seatbelts and child safety seats.
Heads up, Doña Ana County!

Throughout April, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to help reduce DWI-related crashes, injuries and deaths. Deputies will be on the lookout for various violations, with a focus on impaired drivers.
Remember to always buckle up and never drive under the influence. Let’s keep our roads safe for everyone!

State Police Checkpoints and Saturation Patrols in Counties across the State in April 2025
Statewide, NM – State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during April 2025.
We are bringing awareness to these events to reduce impaired driving-related fatalities through continued media attention and intensive advertising.
These checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
Hundreds of lives could be saved each year if every driver had the courage to make the right decision not to drive impaired.
