Shout out to LCPD officer Sean Lockhart who displayed Cariño after responding to a residential structure fire on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.
As firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, officer Lockhart assisted in keeping a child and two adults warm during the frigid temperatures. Firefighters saw Lockhart give the family his own jacket and let them sit in his unit to help keep them warm.
That’s Cariño and we proudly thank officer Sean Lockhart for his dedicated service.

The LCPD Community Outreach Unit has also been busy. Following a successful community event at Young Park last week, officers shared their curious stories about a cat in a hat to Highland Elementary:
“Our Community Outreach Unit participated in Read Across America Week at Highland Elementary School. The Community Outreach team read their favorite Dr. Seuss books to students. Las Cruces police thanks all who helped make this a successful and memorable week.”
