Las Cruces Public Libraries will offer a variety of free computer literacy classes in May designed to help adults develop confidence in their computer skills and grow more comfortable in today’s digital world.

Classes will be in the Computer Training Classroom, on the second floor of Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., accessible on RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1. Laptops will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their laptops if space permits.

Each session listed is an independent class. No registration is required.

Basic Computer Skills – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Are you uncomfortable using a computer? Do you want to understand how to use it without the fear of doing something to break it? This class will discuss what computers are and some ways to properly use them in your daily lives.

Internet Basics and Safety – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Do you know what the Internet is? In this class we will discuss better ways to navigate the Internet and some tips on how to stay safe online.

Smart Phone Basics – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Did you know your cell phone can do more than make phone calls? Do your family and friends ask you to send them text messages instead of calling them, but you don’t know how? Do you want to learn how to use your phone to listen to audio books when you are on the go? Join us as we uncover some of the tools your phone has. Students should bring their Android or iPhone to class for a hands-on experience.

Windows 11 – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

This class will teach students how to navigate the most recent Microsoft operating system. Topics that will be covered include the new Start Menu layout, what the taskbar is, and how to customize Windows 11.
