Las Cruces Public Schools joins schools across the nation in celebrating School Lunch Hero Day, a special occasion on May 2 to honor the dedicated nutrition professionals who play a vital role in the health and well-being of students.

Each day, LCPS cafeteria staff prepare and serve nutritious meals that fuel students for academic success. Their commitment goes beyond food preparation; they create a welcoming environment where students feel valued and cared for. In all, LCPS employs 201 people in school cafeterias across the district. Additionally, LCPS Nutrition Services staff provides meals for La Academia Dolores Huerta, NMSU Pre-K, the Doña Ana County summer meal program and the City of Las Cruces summer meal program.

“We are incredibly proud of our cafeteria staff,” said Maria Guerra, Director of Nutrition Services. “Their hard work and dedication ensure that our students receive healthy meals in a positive and supportive setting.”
