One Last Ride: Emma Bunch to Return to NM State for Final Collegiate Season

Winningest Aggie in program history announces she will remain in Las Cruces for senior campaign.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Coming off her second consecutive appearance in an NCAA Regional, NM State women’s golf standout Emma Bunch announced she will conclude her collegiate career with the Aggies.
 
“I can’t wait to be back in Las Cruces for my senior year,” Emma Bunch said. “I couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for me to finish my biochemistry degree and continue to prepare to play professionally after I graduate. I have a tremendous amount of support from my coaches, my teammates and the whole Aggie community, so I have no doubt that my senior year at NM State is going to be the best way for me to prepare for what the future holds. Aggie Up!”
 
“We are thrilled to have Emma returning for one more year in Las Cruces,” Head Women’s Golf Coach Danny Bowen remarked. “She is an incredible representative of our program, and it’s been an awesome journey to watch her develop during her time here. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her senior year!”
 
Bunch will enter the fall season with a program record seven individual titles to her name and has now recorded 18 top-10 finishes in her three-year career with the Aggies. Bunch has also qualified for back-to-back NCAA Regionals and is coming off two consecutive First Team All-Conference USA selections.

Albuquerque, NM – The UNM Championship Course welcomed 57 competitors for Round 1 of the 2025 NM/WT Amateur Championship, among them, more than a handful of rising and former Aggies.

  • Format: 54 holes of Individual Stroke Play | Division: Men’s Championship (Gross Only)
  • Today’s tee times began at 8:00 AM.

Despite rainy conditions and a weather delay, players showed resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day. SCAGA added, “Thank you to all participants for their patience as the tournament staff worked to keep the round moving safely.”

Wyatt Provence emerged as the Round 1 leader with an impressive 66 (-6), showing early command of the field on a weather-softened but challenging layout. The toughest hole of the day was Hole 2, playing nearly a full stroke over par.

Four Aggies, current and former, finished Round 1 in the Top 10, including Lara and Thomas finishing tied for second. Thomas bushed 5 Birdies, while both Lara and Thomas shared the intensity between the front and back nines–each player was -2 on the front nine, and -2 on bhe back nine.

Las Cruces native, and Mesilla Valley Christian School Alum, Logan Morris, finished Round 1 at +2, T15.
