The Mayor’s Bike Ride begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the south trail head of La Llorona Trail. Parking access is available off Calle de Norte and the east levee road.
A short route of about five miles and a long route of approximately 14 miles will be available. Each route uses the multiuse trails with only limited road crossings along the long route.
“This will be a great showcase of the multiuse trails available to all Las Cruces citizens, many I’m sure do not even know they exist,” said George Pearson, vice president of Velo Cruces.
Anyone who can ride a bike is invited. The ride is a free, easy, family-friendly event and riders have the option of turning around at any point if they choose not to complete the entire ride. Helmets are required for all riders.
Maps are online for the short route and the long route.
The event is sponsored by the City of Las Cruces and Velo Cruces Inc., a community advocacy group working to transform Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley into a great bicycle and pedestrian-friendly community.
