Women’s DMR team tallies first place finish, Rachel O’Brien records second-fastest 800m time.

SAN FRANCISCO / STANFORD, Calif. – Following a first day of action that saw Rachel O’Brien break her own school record in the 1500m, NM State took to action for the final time at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Stanford Invitational. At Cobb Field, O’Brien tallied another strong performance, while at Cox Stadium, the DMR teams highlighted the afternoon.

Stanford Invitational | Stanford, Calif. 
 
Rachel O’Brien was the lone Aggie entrant in the 800m at the Stanford Invitational. After successfully breaking her own school record time in the 1500m on Friday, O’Brien returned to Cobb Track and took first in her section with a time of 2:06.54, tallying a new personal best and the second fastest time in NM State history.

In the men’s mile, each and every Aggie made their event debut, with Derick Castellanos tabbing a top time of 4:26.59. Leo Valenzuela joined Castellanos in section two, finishing with a mark of 4:28.24. In section three, Jonah Archer claimed the top time among Aggies with a result of 4:32.00, with Christian Baretto (4:32.88) and Gabriel Uranga (4:39.50) following behind. 
 
A trio of Aggie took part in the 800m, with junior Angela Korte tallying the top time among the Crimson & White with a mark of 2:13.33, a new personal best. Marlene Mosqueda finished just behind, crossing the line with a time of 2:13.36, while Nia Allison posted a time of 2:16.60 to secure a new personal record.
 
A pair of Aggie teams competed in the DMR, one from the women’s side and one from the men’s. The quartet of Nia AllisonAngela KorteMarlene Mosqueda and Jordan Torres claimed a first-place finish, with a time of 11:55.03.
 
For the men, the foursome of Andrew GibbyAngel MaeseOrion Chavez and Thomas Croshaw captured second overall with a time of 10:10.53, setting a new school record.
