LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Following a strong showing in their final match at the CUSA Tournament against Kennesaw State, the Aggies turned enough heads to earn their first-ever bid to the NIT—marking the program’s first postseason appearance since 2018.

This year’s tournament will be held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, with matches running from May 7 through May 9. The opening day will feature quarterfinal action, as NM State joins a competitive field that includes Chattanooga, Morgan State, NC Central, Rider, UNC Asheville, and Saint Mary’s.
In their opening-round matchup, the Aggies will face NC Central on May 7. The Eagles closed the season with a 16-6 record and are led by All-MEAC First Team selection Hidalgo Vega. The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals to take on Chattanooga.

NM State opened the 2025 CUSA Men’s Tennis Championship with a hard-fought 4-1 loss to Kennesaw State. The Aggies dropped the doubles point despite a 6-0 win at No. 2 from Tobias Wallin and Gustavo Campos. In singles, freshman Holland Snell shined with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3, but the Owls secured the match with wins at the top and bottom of the lineup. Matias Rojas and Lance Urlaub were locked in third sets when play was halted.
