In a first in recent history, Doña Ana County convened a Binational Roundtable where regional leaders gathered to strengthen ties of communication and collaboration.
Chair and Dist. 1 Commissioner Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez, Vice Chair and Dist. 4 Commissioner Susana Chaparro, Dist. 2 Commissioner Gloria Gameros, along with County Manager Scott Andrews hosted a renowned group that included Ciudad Juárez Mayor Cruz Perez Cuéllar, State of Chihuahua Office of the Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development Violeta Padilla, Mexican Consulate in El Paso Texas Deputy Consul Félix Herrera, National Chamber of Commerce in Ciudad Juarez, CANACO President Mtro. Ivan Antonio Perez Ruiz, Ciudad Juárez Regional Economic Development Council A.C. CODER President Humberto Alvarez and Director Claudia Garcia, National Chamber of the Manufacturing Industry, CANACINTRA President Rosa Isela Molina, City of Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez, City of Sunland Park Mayor Javier Perea, Office of U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich Field Representative Tessa Abeyta, and New Mexico Border Authority, NMBA Executive Director Gerardo Fierro.

Counterparts from the Cities of Las Cruces and El Paso, Ciudad Juárez, the States of Chihuahua and New Mexico vowed to share information more frequently, support infrastructure that benefits the region’s growth and enrich regional cultural ties to enhance the quality of life for residents throughout our combined binational, bicultural, bilingual community.
“We look forward to working more closely with our city, county, state and national neighbors to continue growing even faster than we have in the recent past and bring jobs, wealth and business opportunities for the whole region,” Doña Ana County Manager Scott Andrews said. “Our regional infrastructure and economic development can only be strengthened by our combined efforts and we will all enjoy a stronger, wealthier community with ample opportunities.”
