NM State Finishes Eighth at Alice and John Wallace Classic

Bunch finishes tied for eighth to pace Aggies.

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Aggie women’s golf team concluded its stay on the west coast on Monday afternoon as they participated in the third and final round of the Alice and John Wallace Classic at Monterey Country Club. As a team, the Aggies shot 16-over on Monday to finish the week in a tie for eighth place alongside No. 50 Long Beach State.

Emma Bunch finished as the Aggies’ top individual for the fourth time this season as she logged the fourth top-10 finish of her junior campaign. Bunch shot even par (71) on Monday to ultimately end the event in a tie for eighth place after finishing the week with a 54-hole score of 211 (-2).

Camille Pazouki would be the next Aggie to appear on the leaderboard as she placed in a tie for 44th after shooting a 76 (+5) in the third round. This would mark Pazouki’s best collegiate finish of her young career. Meanwhile Angela GarvinAlexandria Armendariz and Kaylee Chen all finished just within two strokes of each other as Garvin placed T60 (227, +14), Armendariz placed T67 (228, +15) and Chen placed T72 (229, +16).

NUMBERS OF NOTE

  • The Aggies posted seven birdies in Monday’s final round, including four from Emma Bunch who rounded out the week with 14 birdies which was good for fourth most among the field.
  • Alexandria Armendariz was the lone Aggie to move up the leaderboard on Monday as she advanced seven spots from her placement after the second round.
  • As a team, this marks the Aggies’ third top-10 finish of the season. The Aggies’ score of 880 (+28) also marks the lowest combined score of the year for the Aggies.
