Reno, Nev. – For the first and only time this cross country season, the Aggies battled snow amid a chilly Friday, Nov. 15 during the 2024 NCAA Mountain Regional, hosted by the University of Nevada. Seven Aggies from both the men’s and women’s team competed at the Washoe Golf Course, with the women running a 6K and the men a 10K.
Opening the day of competition with the women’s 6K, Jordan Torres claimed the top finish for the Crimson & White, taking 82nd overall with a time of 21:41.9. Senior Rachel O’Brienfollowed closely behind, crossing the line 84th with a mark of 21:43.6, while Khloi bird rounded out the top-three finishes, posting a time of 21:47.4.
Marlene Mosqueda and Valeria Macias Casas posted times of 22:11.0 and 22:13.5 respectively in their first appearances at an NCAA regional. Senior Kayla O’Connell recorded a time of 22:15.5 in her last appearance for the Crimson & White.
In the men’s 10K, all seven members of NM State posted personal bests, including Thomas Croshaw who led the team with a 51st-place finish after posting a time of 30:27.3. The sophomore from Albuquerque, N.M., has finished first among Aggies in all six meets this season.
Newcomers to NM State rounded out the top-three finishes, with freshman Orion Chavez recording a mark of 32:00.5, and sophomore Andrew Gibby posting a time of 32:41.5.
Making his second appearance at the NCAA Mountain Regionals, Derick Castellanos tallied a time of 33:12.7.
Freshman Angel Maese and Leo Valenzuela earned their first appearances at an NCAA regional, posting times of 33:29.3 and 33:33.4 respectively.
Junior Jonah Archer also made his NCAA Mountain Regional debut, recording a time of 34:44.1.

The Aggies will now turn focus to 2025 and the indoor track season, kicking off the season in Lubbock, Texas at the Corky Classic on Friday, Jan. 19.
