The NM State Aggies will host just their second midweek matchup this season as they are set to play #16 Arizona Wednesday, April 24 at 6 p.m. MT. The game will be the second game this season that the Aggies and the Wildcats face each other.

Last Game vs. Arizona
The last time the Aggies’ played Arizona was on March 26 in Tucson. The Aggies won this game 12-9 marking their first road win of the season and first win over a Power Five opponent on the year.

In the win, former Wildcat Hayden Lewis was awarded the win on the mound for the Aggies by allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. In this game Preston Godfreybecame the first Aggie to hit for the cycle since Nick Gonzales reached that feat in 2020.

Season High Streaks
After the three-game weekend, Keith Jones II held on to his hitting streak advancing it to 13 games which ties Nick Gore’s 13 game hitting streak that he held earlier in the year. With a hit in the ballgame against Arizona, Jones will hold the longest hitting streak by an Aggie this season.

Over the weekend Mitch Namie was able to set a new team high on-base streak. Namie has now reached base safely in the past 21 games he has played. The previous streak was 20 games held by Jones.

Jones: Conference Leader
Jones has been on an absolute tear at the plate for the Aggies, so much so that Jones is leading the conference in batting average with .406. Over the hit two homers giving him the lead in home runs with 14 on the season now.

The Aggies have recorded 303 RBI on the season, Jones has 58 RBI this season, which also leads Conference USA. Jones is leading the conference in SLG% (.788), OB% (.505), OPS (1.293), Hits (65) and total bases (126).

Scouting the Wildcats
Since playing the Aggies on March 26, the Wildcats have only lost one other game since the loss to the Aggies. In that times span Arizona has won 14 games with their one loss being to Grand Canyon.

In the games since March 26, the Wildcats have scored a total of 102 runs just 12 short of the Aggies 114 runs in that same time span. The Wildcats have allowed just 49 runs during that same time span, the Aggies have allowed 154 runs.
