Due to unforeseen complications with renovations to the kitchen, Las Cruces Senior Programs is extending the closure at the Henry R. Benavidez Center.

The Henry R. Benavidez Center, which is undergoing renovations to the kitchen floor, is now expected to open to the public on Monday, April 28, 2025. The decision to delay reopening the building was made to allow construction crews time to remediate the issues and complete the work.

The Meals-on-Wheels program will not be affected by this delay. Anyone who normally participates in the Congregate Lunch Program at the Benavidez Center will still be able to receive lunch at any of the other centers until the project is complete.

Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at:

  • Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St.
  • Eastside Senior Center, 310 N. Tornillo St.
  • Sage Café, 6121 Reynolds Dr.
  • Frank O’Brien Papen Center, 304 Bell Ave.

For more information, call Las Cruces Senior Programs at (575) 528-3000.
