Possible Hit-and-Run Injures Bicyclist

Las Cruces police are investigating what’s believed to be a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a bicyclist early Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, police and fire were dispatched to the corner of Amador Avenue and Motel Boulevard, in front of the TA Travel Center, after a passerby found a 59-year-old man lying on the roadway with a bicycle nearby.

The man was suffering from head trauma and was unconscious. He was initially transported to a local hospital before being taken to University Medical Center of El Paso where he remains in critical condition.

At this time, investigators do not know the circumstances that led to the man’s injuries.

Anyone with information that can help investigators determine what caused the man’s injuries is asked to call police at (575) 526-0795.
