Student Filmakers on the LOOSE!

At 5 o’clock yesterday, February 23rd, the 48-Hour Film competition began. Students from area schools were tasked with making a movie in 48-hours. The films must include a specific phrase, use a specific prop, and be in a specific genre–all of which are undisclosed to the competitors until the 48-hour clock starts ticking. The winner of the competition will be announced at the end of the “Tell the Story” Film Festival at Allen Theatre’s Cineport 10, March 20-21.

Last year’s winner was Arrowhead Park Early College High Schools entry, “Last Day”–a post-apocalyptic, dystopian tale in the “coming of age” genre and prominently using a “yearbook”.

Do not be surprised to see young filmmakers wandering the streets of our broader community as they make a little movie magic.
